This is my 3 year old son, Cohen’s room. I keep forgetting to post it on my blog and finally had the chance to remember as I was sitting on my computer! This room was another complete paint job as the sides of the walls are wood paneling, again, and needed to painted white. So, again, my MIL drove up to paint his room over a weekend. What would I do without her??
The bed was my old bed that I grew up sleeping in and have always known I wanted it for my own kids. It was an off white that was kind of chipping away. I would have kept it white, but thought that for a little boy…it might not read very boyish. So I decided to go black, since the light fixture I found was black and I liked how it contrasted against the white walls. I found the cutest sheets at Pottery Barn that say fun things like, “smile, play outside, catch butterflies, and snakes”. Quite perfect, if you ask me, for a little boy’s room. It also brought in some fun colors. The side tables, of course, are fun finds at thrift stores and people’s garages. I painted them up and WA-LA. I would say my proudest pieces are his rocking chair (which my mom and I recovered for his nursery) and the bench/basket at the end of his bed. I upholstered the top and made it into a little storage bench. I also found his awesome dresser at my amazing thrift store for like $30. It was already painted the way you see it, I just restained and painted the drawers to freshen it up a bit. I also painted the knobs myself. If you get too close, they don’t look that great, but I think they are cute and crafty! We also had the perfect nook in the corner to place his train set. Amazing idea! He loves to play up there and now the table is out of the way of the rest of the house. Those things are HUGE!! The book wall was an inspiration I saw online somewhere and knew I wanted to do it. I kept the picture on my desktop and hunted down some cute books that had fun colors. I LOVE that wall and it probably cost me only $20 to do. All in all….I am super happy with how it turned out and I think Cohen is too. There are lots of colors and things to look at, so it’s a fun place for him to learn and grow! That’s the most important part right? Now to the pics….

LOVE that Cohen has Thomas trains!! Norah is currently OBSESSED with Thomas. You have quite a way with decorating, LOVE LOVE LOVE your style girl!!
WOW! That is seriously the best boys’ room I have ever seen! It’s amazing! My son’s room is almost identical in terms of layout — slanted ceilings and doors and windows in the same spots. I have such a hard time using the space…but you used the space so well! I LOVE the book wall and the train wall. And the colors and details, WOW!
Wonderful job!
I love the curtain fabric! Love! Is it the Village Blue from Premier Prints? It’s hard to tell om my screen.
[...] This bedroom has a lot of lovely details. I’m really loving the detail on the bed frame. Nothing about this bedroom screams little boy, and that’s what I think makes this room just perfect. [...]
Found you on pinterest and must say, this is such a darling room!!
