Home RENO: Living room/Den

Ok, here we go. On to room 2 and 3. These rooms were the hardest yet, when it came to paint and primer and kilz and XIM. This room has seen more paint in the last 2 months than it has in it’s entire existence. And sadly, I am not thrilled with the color I picked. Hopefully I can either get over it, or get it fixed here soon.

ANYWAYS….first of all….here are the before pictures of the room. haha….ooooooooh boy!

I’m hoping to add a stencil to that back wall. Nothing dramatic, just something to add a little pattern! It soooo needs it. I’m just trying to decide whether I am going to repaint the walls a more gray color. Yes, I know I’m finicky about little things. =)

OK, the coffee table was a $7 thrift store find that I painted white, apholstered the top, and painted the sides. It turned out to be pretty nice. Rug is my fab find at Crate and Barrel. Looked everywhere for a rug and then it smacked me in the face one day. haha….;) The wall paintings are something I saw online in someone’s home. I bought 2 HUGE canvases half off at Michaels and painted them with chalkboard paint and then, of course, colored on them. haha….I think they are some of my favorite things in the whole house. Completely the look I was going for. Top it off with some mix matched pillows and some flowers….and there ya go!

Highly proud of my TV stand. Especially when most people looked at me like I was crazy when I said I bought it. I think it is utterly FABULOUS and love that it’s beaten up and chipped. Got it for a mere $25 from my fave antique lady. Barbara. Some clearance paintings from Homegoods and that’s about it.

A look into the Den from the living room. We settled on just putting up our 6 foot fakie this year. I do NOT put up fake christmas trees, but this year was just too much to go spend money on a tree when we had a perfectly fine one at home. This will do and Cohen will never know. 😉

Another favorite nook in the house. Just love this piece and I love everything on it. So proud of it. An accumulation of collections and antiques. LOVE the color yellow on furniture right now.

This IS my favorite corner in the house. I just love this desk (which I bought from my lady for $40 and it had been sitting outside in the rain and was in terrible shape). I fixed it up with some paint and poly and WA-LA! Thrift store chair and lamp with shade. Love it.

This is my newest addition to the house and I LOVE it. I found these polaroid notecards on Urban Outfitters and thought they’d be perfect on the wall. I also got the cables from there as well. Perfect touch on an empty wall.

And here it is….my COUCH! If I do recall….my father saying he wouldn’t pay a dollar for it. It’s my pride and joy. My thrift store find for $40. Plus it’s a sleeper and we just put a mattress in it finally. I can’t say enough about it. It’s perfect and I would pay $300 for it. Totally a lucky find! BTW…haven’t done a thing to it except add a mattress inside. 😉

Would like to add a stencil on that back wall as well. A different pattern then the wall across from it. I can’t wait and I’ve got the stencils ready. Just waiting for the right time.

THERE YOU HAVE IT! The living room and den as you would find it now. Soon to change I’m sure. =) As everything I do, always gets changed eventually! Hope you enjoyed my little tour. There is sooo much more to come! Would love to hear what you think!!

LOVE IT! So unique and I can’t believe you found so much at thrift/antique stores. I don’t think I’d have the patience for it! You must have been a busy bee lately =) can’t wait to see it in person soon!
